Self-Confidence and Empowerment as a Millennial
Empowerment for Millennials
Are you struggling with “imposter-syndrome" or not feeling confident in your abilities? Are you a harsh critic on yourself? Do the comments of others effect your self-worth, self-esteem and confidence? Do you feel like you are not enough? I’ve been there too. I understand that it is not an easy place to be!
Self-Confidence
Self-confidence is an attitude about your skills and abilities. It means you accept and trust yourself and have a sense of control in your life. You know your strengths and weakness well, and have a positive view of yourself. You set realistic expectations and goals, communicate assertively, and can handle criticism.
On the other hand, low self-confidence might make you feel full of self-doubt, be passive or submissive, or have difficulty trusting others. You may feel inferior, unloved, or be sensitive to criticism. Feeling confident in yourself might depend on the situation. For instance, you can feel very confident in some areas, such as academics, but lack confidence in others, like relationships.
Empowerment
Personal empowerment is about taking control of your own life, and making positive decisions based on what you want. It's closely linked to attributes like self-esteem and self-confidence , but true empowerment comes when you convert intention into action.

+ How would we work on my self-confidence and empowerment issues?
Having more self-awareness is integral in building self-confidence and working towards self-empowerment. I help my clients practice through role-playing exercises for different situation and conversations that may cause anxiety. I also integrate CBT exercises to help clients recognize there negative thoughts and reframe them to positive ones. Clients also use therapy as a way to process their issues revolving around self-confidence.
