Frequently Asked Questions
+ What is therapy and is it right for me?
Therapy is a way for a client and therapist to work together aiming to relieve emotional distress and mental health problems. Therapy is good for anyone interested in bettering themselves or seeking emotional support from a non-judgemental therapist. Everyone has a different experience with therapy. Finding a therapist that is a good fit for you can be difficult, but once you do, then it can be a positive healing process. I offer a free 15 minute consultation where you can see if I am good fit for you.
+ What will a therapy session look like?
Therapy is different for everyone. Some people prefer short-term therapy while others prefer long-term ongoing therapy. I will meet you where you are comfortable at. I recommend committing to at least 8-12 sessions to see progress. Before starting therapy, you will need to sign informed-consent documents and complete a short in-take assessment. The initial session will go over over your specific goals and objectives for therapy. Therapy does not guarantee anything, but the goal is to promote positive change.
+ What if therapy does not work?
Therapy does not guarantee anything, but the goal is to promote positive change. It may take several weeks to see progress, which is why I recommend a commitment of at least 8-12 weekly sessions. This allows for consistency and rapport building. However, you may end therapy at any time.
+ How do I know therapy is working?
Therapy is work and there’s no easy, fix-all solution. We’ll work together to make a plan that ensures you’re getting exactly what you want out of therapy. This is your time. You can also ask yourself these questions: Am I experiencing more joy? Do I have fewer conflicts? Am I able to make decisions with greater confidence and ease?
+ How much does a session cost? Do you take insurance? Do you provide a sliding scale?
I am not currently taking insurance and am only private pay at this time. I can provide a "superbill" that you can submit to your insurance to ask for reimbursement. All first-time initial sessions are $225. Ongoing sessions are 45-50 minutes at $200/session. I currently do not have any opennings for sliding scale clients. See services and pricing here.
+ How long is a session?
Initial sessions are 60 minutes. Ongoing sessions are 45-50 minutes.
+ What is your cancellation policy?
My cancellation policy requires 48 hours advanced notice. Appointments canceled with less notice will incur the full session fee.
+ Can I do online therapy with you if I am not in California?
No, unfortunately. I am licensed in California only and cannot provide online therapy to clients who live outside of California. However, I do offer End-Of-Life Coaching Sessions for anyone worldwide.
+ How long will I need to do therapy?
A commitment of about 8-12 weeks is recommended to see any progress. However, you may end therapy at anytime. My cancellation policy will be included with your informed-consent forms.
+ Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?
Yes, I offer limited evening appointments upon discussion. I do not offer weekend appointments.
